Join the Enterprise Architecture and Advanced Analytics team in the role of Cloud Architect. As the Architect specializing in Cloud Applications and Platforms, you will be responsible for the creation, maintenance and management of CMHC’s Solution, technical and network architecture models and the components related to the cloud. You will be responsible for the development, evolution, documentation and publication of the architecture, application development and commercial off-the-shelf related elements of CMHC’s Cloud Applications and Platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a cloud-based solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies, based on enterprise business strategies, business capabilities, business requirements and enterprise standards.
- Develop models and documentation of architecture while designing, overseeing and approving the development of Cloud solutions and use of Cloud platforms by IT within CMHC.
- Provide insight, guidance and decisions to third-party vendors, external firms and CMHC business lines(directors) on making decisions with regards to the technical direction of CMHC (including how to proceed with the EA Target State architecture).
- Track the company application portfolio and assisting project teams to shape architectures consistent with platforms, roadmaps and standards for architect and design.
- Resolve technical issues, providing technical support and quality control throughout all stages of systems architecture projects.
- Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives, and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work.
- Research, gather, document and disseminate cloud best practices for governance and use of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
- Match business needs with cloud solutions based on requirements to maximize the business value of cloud computing.
- Establish reference architectures and related recommendations.Collaborate with other members of IT to do cloud vendor management.
- Contribute to cloud adoption policies and standards.
- Contribute to cloud cost governance policies to maximize the value of cloud computing to the business. Contribute to forecasting cloud demand and costs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems or a related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines — e.g., technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, cloud application development, application development, middleware, IT Security or database management t. An equivalent combination of related education and work experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience producing and editing high quality technical documentation in the form of diagrams and documents for a variety of audiences (technical and non-technical).
- Demonstrated experience designing the architecture for CMHC’s cloud subscriptions and platforms to provide a secure operating environment.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in working with various computer applications and software (e.g., MSOffice, Visio, MS Project as well as software and tools related to one of EA domain(s) of expertise).
- Ability to analyze and decide on solutions for enterprise-level software and infrastructure that fit into an overall architecture.
- Strong organizational skills, including an ability to manage several ongoing and competing tasks and/or projects.
- Ability to build and manage effective working relationships with peers, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex technical information or project status to senior management, business units, colleagues or IT vendors.
- Ability to work in an environment in which priorities change rapidly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional designations or certificates related to domains of Cloud, Technology, Application Development, Network, Enterprise Architecture (Business, Data, Applications, Technology) as well as security (For example, The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Experience with Microsoft Azure. Experience with other cloud providers.
- Experience with data governance and management cloud platforms (SAAS or PAAS).
