About the role
Join the Accounting Operations and Procurement Team in the Senior Specialist, Innovation (Flood Reinsurance) position. In this role, you will support the Flood Reinsurance Project Management team as a subject matter expert for the accounting and procurement operations.
This new position was created following the Budget 2024 announcement of the Federal Government’s intention to establish a subsidiary of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to deliver flood reinsurance and to advance implementation of a national flood reinsurance program by 2025.
What you’ll do:
- Support the development and implementation of a flood reinsurance program by working with different stakeholders to design and implement the accounting and procurement operations/processes of the new flood reinsurance entity, encompassing general and tax accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking, travel & expenses, procurement, and vendor risk management.
- Develop policies & guidelines, document the processes, procedures and tools used for the areas mentioned above.
- Collaborate with the Financial Systems Group to design and develop a finance platform tailored to the new entity’s operational and reporting needs.
- Manage the change process by engaging and communicating with stakeholders, providing technical leadership and coaching to more junior colleagues.
- After the subsidiary is successfully implemented, lead all accounting and procurement operations of the new entity.
What you should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting. An equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in finance process design and implementation, external or internal auditing and/or accounting operations.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research on unique business areas and rigorous analysis using critical thinking and judgement to resolve complex issues.
- Proven experience in leading finance system implementation (including ERP systems) or transformation projects and managing change.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Bilingualism (English and French).
It would be great if you also had:
- A CPA designation.
