About the role
Join the Enterprise Data Office (EDO) in the Bilingual Senior Specialist, Data Management and Modelling position. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to CMHC’s enterprise data management capabilities across multiple dimensions, including Business Information Modelling (BIM), Metadata Management, Business Glossary, Data Quality, Reference Data, Data Observability, and more. You will work closely with both business and technical teams to ensure CMHC realizes the full value of its data assets, while acting as a key liaison between EDO and business stakeholders to support enterprise-wide data management initiatives.
This is a temporary position of a duration of 18 months.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of CMHC’s Business Information Model (BIM), including ongoing identification and modeling of data domains, subdomains, and business concepts.
- Act as a lead resource for metadata management initiatives, including business glossary management, domain mapping, metadata synchronization between Collibra, Informatica, and other catalog solutions.
- Serve as a primary liaison from the Enterprise Data Office (EDO) to business areas, promoting the adoption and understanding of enterprise data management capabilities such as:
- Data Quality Management (including monitoring and rule development).
- Data Quality Issue Management.
- Reference Data Management.
- Data Observability and Data Lineage.
- Data Enrichment and Cleansing Services.
- Lead and participate in business-facing workshops and discussions to gather business requirements related to metadata, data quality, and governance.
- Collaborate with technical teams, business SMEs, and vendors to define and operationalize business information models, metadata models, data flows, and stewardship assignments.
- Lead documentation of data ownership and stewardship roles to support data governance accountability structures.
- Provide guidance and recommendations on best practices, emerging technologies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards related to enterprise data management.
- Act as lead resource for projects involving metadata management components, coordinating deliverables and ensuring alignment with EDO frameworks and standards.
What you should have:
- An undergraduate degree in business administration, computer science, data science, finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in Data Governance, Metadata Management, or Enterprise Data Management disciplines.
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in data modeling, metadata modeling, or business information modeling and analyzing business processes and documenting data-related requirements.
- Hands-on experience implementing data management solutions across areas such as data quality, reference data, master data, metadata/catalog management, data privacy, data security, or data migration.
- Experience with metadata and governance tools, Collibra and Informatica strongly preferred. Experience working with Databricks and Unity Catalog is an asset.
- Strong data analysis skills, with ability to write and execute SQL queries to support metadata profiling, validation, and issue investigation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages (English and French) with the ability to facilitate discussions, present to diverse stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across teams.
It would be great if you also had:
- A certification in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP, Collibra Ranger, Informatica certifications).
- Experience with data discovery, data profiling, and business architecture models.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery models and cross-functional project leadership.
- The ability to take initiative, operate independently, and drive complex data management projects to completion.
