About the role
Join the Default Prevention management and Claims Team as Senior Officer, Operations. The Default Management Team is a dynamic and results-driven group dedicated to resolving default situations, enabling projects to progress and achieve their full potential. We take a proactive and collaborative approach, working closely with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure effective solutions. Our team thrives on adaptability and innovation, addressing challenges with professionalism and a focus on creating value. By fostering strong relationships and maintaining open lines of communication, we aim to deliver impactful outcomes that support long-term success for all parties involved.
What you’ll do:
- Review new default requests profiled to the Default Management team with precision, ensuring accuracy and strict adherence to CMHC policies and internal process and procedures.
- In collaboration with the Manager, analyze default files to determine the best course of action, balancing the interests of borrowers, lenders, and CMHC.
- Serve as a point of contact between the team and internal and external stakeholders for several specific situations and monitor the centralized mailbox.
- High-level evaluation default cases to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate level of attention by the team and/or management.
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement actions that minimize financial exposure for CMHC and other stakeholders.
- Monitor trends and maintain databases to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare detailed reports and summaries on default management activities, including performance metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure all default management activities are conducted in full compliance with CMHC standards, policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
What you should have:
- An undergraduate degree in business, finance or commerce.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in mortgage administration. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience can be considered.
- Good understanding of the housing industry or default management.
- Familiarity with CMHC policies, mortgage lending practices, and regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively in both English and French with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and office software, including Excel, Word, and other reporting tools.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
It would be great if you also had:
- Housing industry experience at the municipal or provincial level.
- Financial analysis skills.
