About the role
Join the Office of the Chief Financial Officer in the role of Associate, Finance Business Partner where you will support the synthesis and delivery of financial guidance to clients. You will act as a business partner, helping clients establish sound financial processes that provide business insights for better financial decisions.
What you’ll do:
- Act as a business partner, maintaining meaningful relationships with client and relevant stakeholders to gain an understanding of the business and environment, in order to accomplish finance tasks.
- Provide guidance on developing and executing forecasting processes that yield meaningful, timely and detailed forecasts using appropriate forecasting techniques, assumptions and tools; solutions often require innovative thinking and creative problem solving.
- Prepare the financial and impact analysis, and financial modelling to deliver insights and commentary, applying an understanding of the operations to frame, using common business terms and visualizations to help clients understand the implications of key business decisions.
- Identify non-value added processes and improvement opportunities related to costing, risk management, oversight, analysis, managing reporting, funding, budgeting, controls, and financial model inputs and outputs.
- Support the development and championing of financial implications of business strategies and policies by identifying emerging issues, trends and opportunities, researching and analyzing their implications and recommending solutions.
- Conduct in-depth and proactive analysis of FTE consumption activities, forecast accuracy, variances between actuals (current and prior year), and variance from planned amounts. Contributes to monitoring FTE budgets against corporate appropriations, and operating budgets.
- Distill and formulate thoughtful and supported financial recommendations based on the results of proactive financial analysis, identified areas of risk exposure, and available opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, standardization, analysis and monitoring financial performance indicators, measures and targets to ensure clients are meeting stakeholder expectations and achieving strategic objectives from a financial perspective.
What you should have:
- An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or commerce.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in finance, business analysis and strategy support.
- Knowledge of relevant financial, legislative and regulatory environments.
- Understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage several ongoing and competing projects.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills in both English and French.
- Demonstrated experience in various software applications and planning tools (e.g. Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent ability to gather and analyze information, synthesize key elements and summarize recommendations.
It would be great if you also had:
- An MBA or professional designation (CA, CFA, CGA, CMA, CPA).
