This position reports to the Policy Operations team, in our Office of the SVP, Policy and Innovation sector. This sector accelerates housing affordability through evidence-based policy, research and disruptive innovation.

 

About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. This full-time permanent position is an exceptional opportunity to be a part of the Policy Operations team.

 

What you will need
•    Undergraduate degree in in Social Science, Public Policy or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience conducting quantitative and/or qualitative analysis to provide advice on housing policies, programs and strategies.
•    Demonstrated research skills to collect and synthesize information from a variety of sources such as government reports, academic research, and stakeholder positions.
•    Demonstrated communication and writing skills to effectively and succinctly present policy considerations, positions and proposals through briefing notes, decks, correspondence, policy papers and other materials.
•    Tact and discretion in dealing with highly sensitive issues. 
•    Ability to build and maintain effective business relationships with external stakeholders.
•    Experience working across government to advance policy priorities and solutions, as well as strong coordination and collaboration skills.
•    Ability to capture and analyze, a multitude of social, economic, political, environmental factors (issues, trends, data, research).
•    Ability to take initiative and work independently in individual projects, as well as ability to work in a team environment.
•    Exceptional organization, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
•    Experience in Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) would be considered an asset.
 

What you will be doing
•    Contributing to briefing notes and materials, decks and processes to support the development of policies that address the housing needs of Canadians, including vulnerable populations. 
•    Scanning the internal and external operating environment for emerging policy and program issues and opportunities.
•    Collecting, analyzing and synthesizing information from diverse sources to provide management with input on specific housing policy and other public policy topics.  
•    Representing CMHC at external meetings, committees and working groups to communicate corporate priorities and policy positions, and to obtain input to CMHC policy proposals.
•    Conducting quantitative and/or qualitative analysis to support authoritative advice on housing policies, programs and strategies, and to provide evidence for recommendations to senior management and the Minister.
