This position is an exceptional opportunity to become a member of the Client Solutions, Risk Management, Strategy and Products - Risk and Pricing team where you will be responsible to provide solutions through expert guidance in order to promote housing affordability and financial markets stability.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Acts as the subject matter expert concerning strategy and risk management. Provides guidance, advice and recommendations to senior management on strategy and risk management, policies and procedures.
  • Lead the development of strategies and risk management practices that promote housing affordability and financial markets stability.
  • Identifies opportunities through the market knowledge to strengthen and change the strategies and risk management, frameworks and structures to achieve the set objectives.
  • In co-operation with multiple internal partners, participates in the development of a long-term strategic vision for products and tools.
  • Identifies opportunities to advance the organizational and government's objectives through the strategies and risk management. 
  • Keeps abreast of and understands best practices and trends and developments in the national housing market.
  • Performs high-level/broad analysis and leverages colleagues within the team for more detailed analytical results, as well as the data from the operations group, Finance and external data providers to develop the advice and recommendations on a change in approach, strategy or risk assessment.
  • Create strong lines of communication throughout CMHC to ensure that work within the division aligns with and supports the activities of other sectors.

 

Minimal qualifications:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field, such as business, economics or finance.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in a related field.
  • Understanding of Canada’s housing finance system, markets, appropriations, mortgage insurance and funding, the secondary mortgage market, lending/underwriting practices and default management.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills to be able to present at committees.
  • Ability to gauge the technical knowledge of the audience and translate the information to fit the audience.
  • Ability to think forward, to estimate and assess the changing dynamics of the housing market. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of performance or operational measurements to successfully meet broad work objectives.
  • Ability to interpret information from various sources in order to provide recommendations concerning the continuous development of organizational programs.
  • MBA, CFA and/or risk management certification is preferred.
  • Bilingualism (English - French) is required
