Salary: Our salaries generally range from $ 97692.52 to $ 122115.65 and are based on qualifications and experience.

Join the Modelling division in the Senior Specialist, Modelling position. You will help us achieve this vision by developing advanced models and providing quality analytical supports. Your ability to develop models, interpret their results, apply critical thinking, and maintain relationships with our clients will play a key role in improving our decision-making process and enhance our risk management framework.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain models throughout their life cycle in accordance with CMHC's model risk policy and industry best practice.
  • Develop new statistical and machine learning models to inform business decisions and analysis; models are used for purposes such as stress testing and capital adequacy assessment. 
  • Manage model development projects by leading or coordinating multidisciplinary teams whose members may include model users, modelling experts, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the migration of models from development to production system environments.
  • Develop tools, user guides and training materials to provide analytical support and  conduct training sessions to users and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor operating environments and model performance to ensure models and analytics properly reflect current market dynamics. 
  • Ensure models are appropriately documented and are subject to appropriate controls, including change management protocols.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Postgraduate degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, economics, statistics, data sciences, or actuarial sciences.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in modelling, validation or quantitative analytics at a bank, insurance company, asset manager or other type of financial institution.
  • Good understanding of Canada's financial sector and real estate markets.
  • Strong ability to work in a sophisticated technological environment, such as Azure, utilizing various modelling techniques and programming languages, preferably Python, R and/or Rust.
  • Good writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous analysis using critical thinking and judgment to resolve complex issues.
