About the role

Join the Municipal Relations team as a Senior Specialist, Client Relationship Management. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of municipalities and administer their Housing Accelerator Fund agreements. You will also lead intelligence gathering efforts, provide strategic input into policy direction and implement CMHC’s mission, vision and goals. You will play a critical role in ensuring positive relationships with municipal officials and understanding challenges and identifying solutions in support of increasing the supply of housing. 

 

This is a temporary position ending on March 31, 2027. 
 

What you’ll do:
 

  • Provide guidance and advice to senior management on relationship and partnership building with other governments, including on politically sensitive matters.
  • Ensure that strategic national and regional links are made with related functions to foster a cohesive approach in working with other governments.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams on operational program delivery.
  • Act as a lead contact with government officials. Build and maintain proactive and positive partnerships, collaborate and share intelligence.
  • Integrate external intelligence into planning and policy making.
  • Understand regional contexts and challenges and help develop solutions to support an increase and access to affordable housing supply.
     

What you should have:

 

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in City Planning or related discipline.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience working with municipalities or in government relations, including a minimum three years in leading projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in the municipal planning sector.
  • Experience delivering government and/or housing programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a trust relationship with clients and partners. Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience initiating, developing and managing multiple projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. including influencing, negotiation and presentation skills.
