About the role
Join the Housing Programs Servicing team, in the Senior Officer, Operations, Mulit-Unit Servicing and Default Management position. This is a unique opportunity to help build a servicing function for Housing Programs from the ground up. In this role, you will play a key part in developing a new team dedicated to managing servicing operations, delivering high-quality customer service, and safeguarding CMHC’s interests. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day servicing of Multi-Unit mortgage applications. You will review, analyze and make recommendations related to risk mitigation strategies on a file-by-file basis. Your expertise will help identify key risks and develop innovative solutions that protect CMHC’s interests while maintaining a high standard of client service. You will also engage in direct communication and negotiation with clients to explore viable options, aiming to reach outcomes that minimizes CMHC's risk exposure and support its mission to help Canadians meet their housing needs.
This is a temporary position for a duration of up to 24 months.
What you’ll do:
- Review and assess requests pertaining to CMHC loans, including covenant amendments, changes to special conditions, borrower structure modification requests, security releases, and partial sales, ensuring no additional risk is assumed by CMHC.
- Conduct financial analysis of borrowers, evaluate market conditions, and assess the financial and operational performance of properties to ensure CMHC maintains adequate security when reviewing requests from borrowers.
- Provide guidance, support, and innovative solutions to clients and stakeholders, including communicating key decisions, interpretating policies, and responding to inquiries.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage and maintain complex client relationships.
What you should have:
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as Business, Finance, and/or Commerce.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in credit/financial analysis and/or real estate finance
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, borrower legal structure, construction process and real estate.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
It would be great if you also had:
- Knowledge of construction and mortgage financing, Multi-Unit underwriting, and credit risk analysis.
- Experience in building reports and/or in using statistical analysis software such as MS Excel or Power BI.
- Knowledge of CMHC’s Housing Programs and/or Mortgage Loan Insurance.
