Senior Analyst, Housing Economics (Western Canada)

Join the Policy and Innovation team where we accelerate housing affordability through evidence-based policy, research and disruptive innovation.  We strive to be experts on housing markets, understand emerging issues and provide timely and insightful housing market analysis.  

 

We are searching for someone with a passion for providing analysis of housing markets at the national, provincial and local levels to help us achieve our aspiration that by 2030, everyone in Canada has a home that they can afford and that meets their needs.

 

We currently have 2 positions available and are looking to hire individuals in the region of British Colombia, Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Uses analytical tools, methodologies, housing market information and intelligence to monitor progress, identify trends and recognize risks in housing markets.
  • Uses sound econometric modelling and analytical techniques to produce or to contribute to the analysis and forecasts of economic and housing market activity at the national, provincial and local levels for internal and external dissemination.
  • Prepares and presents economic and housing market analysis and reports to internal and external clients. Acts as media spokesperson for selected markets. 
  • Leads and/or participates in a team environment to contribute to the division’s knowledge of economic, housing and mortgage market analysis and forecasts including peer reviewing market analysis reports.
  • Actively participates to improve products and processes.
  • Proactively engages and maintains working relationships with internal and external clients to build strong relationships in order to understand housing market issues, obtain market intelligence, and provide timely and reliable analysis to meet their needs and inform their decisions.

 
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree in Economics.
  • Minimum of one year of economic analysis experience. Experience in analyzing housing market conditions would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of external public and private data and information services involved in the monitoring and analysis of economic activity.
  • Ability to effectively communicate economic and housing market information, both orally and in writing, to internal and external audiences in plain language.
  • Understanding of and experience in analysis and forecasting of the general economy, housing and mortgage markets. Some knowledge of and experience in the application of statistics, econometric modeling, regression analysis, seasonal adjustment, simulation and forecasting techniques would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with statistical software packages like R and Python would be considered an asset.
  • Strong client relationship management skills is a must, with proven experience in building relationships, negotiating and influencing others.   

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant coursework in econometrics is an asset.
