About the role
Join the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, within the Corporate Enterprise Portfolio Management team in the role of Business Partner, Finance. As a Business Partner, Finance, you will contribute to the synthesis and delivery of financial guidance to clients. You will act as a strategic business partner, helping clients establish moderately complex financial processes that provide business insights for better financial and strategic decisions. You will develop and maintain a strong understanding of the business operations through discussion and analysis, distilling financial needs and gaining trust as a business partner. You will also develop and implement various financial initiatives on process improvement activities and performance measurement to achieve more effectively finance and business goals.
 
What you'll do:

  • Act as a proactive business partner, understand the business strategy, and provide relevant financial insights on business performance to support decision-making. 
  • Promote a business-partnering dynamic, understanding both finance and business needs and focused on providing moderately complex analysis and advice guidance to clients, leveraging available systems, new technology and tools.
  • Consult and share expertise with internal client groups, ranging from middle management to vice-presidents, providing guidance, advice and recommendations with regards to special initiatives and unique business cases and applying guidelines, policies and risk management.
  • Provide advice, recommendations and coaching to clients in the development of business and cost driver analysis, monthly forecasting, annual and 5-year business financial plans, the allocation and re-allocation of budgets, business cases and assumptions used in financial models.
  • Support the development and championing of management reporting, financial modeling and implications of business strategies and policies by identifying emerging issues, trends and opportunities, researching and analyzing their implications and recommending solutions.
  • Identify non-value-added processes and mapping improved processes, which includes assessing current financial processes including those related to financial infrastructure, controls, financial model inputs and output procedures to recommend specific and meaningful improvements in efficiency.
  • Coach and guide the development and documentation of financial plans, including, but not limited to, developing and monitoring moderate complexity financial planning models, challenging assumptions and coaching to link the financial planning process to enterprise-wide integrated planning.
  • Apply a strong understanding of business performance measures and implements and oversee delivery management reports containing quantitative and qualitative analysis, which provides strategic insight into the underlying drivers of performance from operational and strategic metrics, key expense performance indicators, benchmark comparisons and other variables, and contribute to recommendations to senior management to optimize client performance.


What you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or commerce. 
  • A minimum of five (5) years in finance, business analysis and strategy support.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial, legislative and regulatory environments.
  • Understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage several ongoing and competing projects.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and work in a multi-demand environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in various software applications and planning tools (e.g. Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent ability to gather and analyze information, synthesize key elements and summarize recommendations.
  • Bilingualism (English and French).

 

 

It would be great if you also had:

  • An MBA or professional designation (CA, CFA, CGA, CMA, CPA).
  • Experience with IFRS
