Salary: Our salaries generally range from $ 121130,97 to $ 151413,71 and are based on qualifications and experience.

Join the Policy and Research team where we accelerate housing affordability through evidence-based policy, research and disruptive innovation. In this role, you will provide strategic advice on the development of CMHC’s multi-year research strategy, provide support for fundamental decisions that will shape future directions and play a key role in the effective and efficient functioning of the Research division.



  • Leads the development of research priorities and ensures research is aligned with corporate and sector goals, demonstrates understanding of key housing decisions to be influenced to accelerate housing affordability. 
  • Provides informal leadership through authoritative and tactical advice, guidance and coaching to the research team and to senior management.
  • Ensures research results are well integrated with other communication activities and is done in a timely, impactful and efficient manner through a variety of media, communication channels and knowledge mobilization activities set in collaboration with the communications team. 
  • Scans internal and external environments and keeps abreast of the latest developments in the housing market; shares ideas and insights to advance thinking and builds the body of knowledge on housing affordability.
  • Engages with external stakeholders with the goal of broadening impact of our research and to stakeholders. 
  • Liaises with policy, economic team and other internal business partners and other key CMHC functions (e.g., Finance, Risk, Procurement), as it relates to finding research solutions, ensuring a transparent flow of information.
  • Leads various initiatives to improve efficient operation of Research division.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree in a related field such as finance, economics, commerce, social science, or planning.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience managing the development and performance of research that meets strategic and operational needs, and experience providing facts, evidence and conclusions to support decision-making. 
  • Ability to synthesize and to solve abstract and complex policy problems using appropriate research techniques, to capture and balance a multitude of other factors that define public policy and business operations. 
  • Knowledge of Canada’s housing system, possessing In-depth knowledge of trends and conditions that impact the social, economic and technical performance of housing in Canada.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced multi-tasking environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in informal leadership roles.
